As the end of the year approached quickly front and center and teachers tied up final projects or units, The Living Classroom Garden at SCG also shined on with some new aspects.

Firstly, the TLC garden now officially has a team of parent volunteers that regularly commit to garden maintenance and/or TLC enrichment classroom support. This team named themselves ‘Sprout Support’ and even received a logo made by Ceci, an SCG student artist and nature enthusiast. If you are interested in being on Sprout Support in the fall of 2025, please contact the front SCG office to leave your information for Ms. Jade. We made strides this year with this invaluable support to our SAGE program!

Secondly, Tk-1st grades engaged in designing and installing a Fairy Garden around the signature TLC apple tree. This desire arose from younger scientists yearning for more imaginative play in our main garden. The Fairy Station will be one of the TLC station options, along with The Gastropod Hotel, or Worm Bin Bingo. Further, a collaboration with the local Girl Scout Troop #15551 topped off the project as they installed the main fairy house and adorned it with their surrounding painted stones. Thank you all fairy garden makers!

Finally, the TLC greenhouse has a new major upgrade. Thanks to Janine and Mike (long term SCG staff!), a newly installed B-hyve smart irrigation system will allow seed trays to get the water they need, daily. We are so grateful for their generous time, sweat, labor and skills donated to make this happen. Long gone are the days of hand watering on the weekends in our toasty greenhouse!
Wishing all SCG families a restful and nature-filled summer break!
